Free Pronunciation Checker with Device Voices and Accents

Type a word, name, or short phrase, select a voice, and hear how that device voice pronounces it. Compare several accents before choosing a reading.

What a pronunciation checker can tell you

A text-to-speech voice offers a useful listening reference for familiar words, names, dates, and short phrases. It is especially helpful when you want to compare regional English voices or slow a phrase down. It is not a phonetic authority: synthetic voices can make mistakes, and a proper name may have a pronunciation chosen by its owner rather than by a dictionary.

Compare voices instead of trusting one result

Select two or three voices with different language codes and listen at normal and slow speed. If the results disagree, check a reliable dictionary, an official organization recording, or a pronunciation supplied by the person whose name you are using. For multilingual text, select a voice whose language code matches the sentence.

Prepare difficult text for narration

Build a short list of names, abbreviations, product terms, and numbers before generating a long voiceover. Test them in isolation, then inside a complete sentence because surrounding words can alter rhythm and stress. The save button stores a small practice list on the current device; it does not create an account or upload the entries.

Questions people ask

Why are only a few accents available?

The list comes from your browser and operating system. Install additional system language packs to add more voices.

Can it show IPA symbols?

Not currently. This tool is designed for listening comparisons, not phonetic transcription.

Is my practice list private?

It is stored in local browser storage. Clearing site data removes it.
