Where the list comes from
The Web Speech API asks the browser for its current voice catalogue. That catalogue can change with the operating system, installed language packs, browser, account configuration, and network availability. VoiceAI Free does not claim a fixed number of browser voices or languages. Refresh the page after installing a new system voice.
Understand the localService flag
Some browsers report whether a voice is local. Treat that value as a technical hint, not a complete privacy or licensing statement. A device feature may still use provider components, and browser implementations differ. For sensitive text, consult the platform documentation and test in the intended environment.
Test more than one sentence
Use a sentence with names, numbers, abbreviations, a question, and punctuation. Compare at normal speed before adjusting rate or pitch. A language code identifies locale support but does not guarantee a specific regional performance. Commercial or public use depends on the voice provider’s terms, not on whether the browser can play it.
